Cycling is a rare mode of transportation that offers good health, eco-friendliness, adventure, and adrenaline rushes. I didn't know what living really felt like before I got on the saddle of my Trek and rode the Santa Cruz mountains. With my bike I get to explore the backroads of the Silicon Valley. I get to ride off and lose myself in the woods. I get the thrill of screaming down hills after a gruelling climb. All this under the power of my two legs.

I didn't get into biking intentionally—I just needed to get to and from my office throughout the school year, but I was hooked after just a few weeks. After spending my first three years of school relying on public transit and friends, the freedom that a bike offered me was amazing.

So far getting groceries and dating have been the only two difficulties, but that's what roommates with cars are for—and I'm currently taken.
