Weekends were dreaded during the summer growing up. Building fences, clearing brush, landscaping, et cetera. Unlike my childhood friends', my father liked to do everything around the house himself. If something was broken it would be fixed, if I wanted a treehouse I had to make it. I complained every time, and took twice as long as I should have, but I learned a lot.
I think this gave me the confidence growing up to try things a little out of my reach. I loved computers so I would tear them apart and built them back together. My father didn't like that I would occasionally break things, but I stand by the fact that this do-it-yourself-break-thing-and-fix-them spirit is the most important part of my personality.
